Refrigeration

The term refrigeration means cooling a space, substance, or system to lower and/or maintain its temperature below the ambient one.

Types of Refrigeration System

There are three types of refrigeration systems they are as follows,

  • Absorption Refrigeration.
  • Evaporative Cooling.
  • Thermoelectric Refrigeration.
  • Mechanical refrigeration system

In chambers we use Mechanical refrigeration system

Mechanical Refrigeration System

Mechanical refrigeration often referred to simply as refrigeration, is a process by which heat is removed from a location using a man-made heat-exchange system. When the refrigerant enters the low-pressure cooling coil, the refrigerant changes state into a vapor and absorbs heat.

Vapor-compression uses a circulating liquid refrigerant as the medium which absorbs and removes heat from the space to be cooled and subsequently rejects that heat elsewhere. The above image depicts a typical, single-stage vapor-compression system. All such systems have four components: a compressor, a condenser, a thermal expansion valve also called a throttle valve or metering device, evaporator.
For this, we need a compressor and most used compressors are reciprocating and scroll compressors,

Reciprocating compressor

It is other wise called as piston compressor which is a positive displacement compressor that uses a piston by a crank shaft to deliver gases at high pressure,

Working

The intake gas enters the suction manifold, then flows into the compression cylinder where it gets compressed by a piston driven in a reciprocating motion via a crankshaft and is then discharged.
